This time the book is titled "Pull Your Pants Up...and be a man! " A self help book that every teenage boy needs...One that is truly inspiring...

I had a chance to meet the author Ms. Bernice Harris on a cold Saturday morning in late February...She and the model/music producer Joe Hill as well as Stef were shivering silently as we caputured the images on the South Side of Chicago....

And talk about doin' it BIG...

Of course this happened on the day of our shoot....but I thought Anisa did an Outstanding job....and I must thank her for her determination to make this shoot happen under the given circumstances...

All I can say is WOW...

I fall in love with all my couples...We met for the first time on a cool Sunday morning near Hyde Park here in Chicago...the temp was maybe a tad bit cooler than we would've liked...but hey, it's Chicago...What do you expect?

Jeff and Nikki came dressed to impress...and there was plenty of "shuga" shared between the two of them...

They met on the train a while back...and they plan on riding it together...to the last stop and back again until the end of time...

Juan works with me at my 9-to-5...and we just happened to be on lunch at the same time...(that almost never happens) He goes into an unoccupied room and puts a cd of his favorite artist in the computer and plays along with them...if he doesn't know the song...he figures out how to play it on the spot...I've seen him in action...He's amazing...

I met this young lady when she came to work in my department after moving from my home state Arizona around this time last year...Since then we've become great friends (except for when I smack my gum in the car)...

I got a chance to hear so much about her fiance Dave before I actually met him in person because he had to tie up some loose ends back in AZ...and since Jenni and I worked together on many projects day after day...I'm sure he heard much about me as well....

Hello all,

I'd like to take this time to thank everyone who took a chance on me back when I started and no one new how their pics would turn out, but just trusted my ability...Thank you so very much...

This gratefulness comes after Sunday's shoot because Tera was one of my first paid clients...She's great...warm and bubbly and one helluva reporter too...you should see her in Tornado Coverage...You can see her in action on WFLD-TV at www.myfoxchicago.com 5 days a week and sometimes more...

Anyway,

She asked me if I'd take her headshots a while back...and then my apartment was broken into and my gear was stolen, so I had to postpone...She was kind enough to wait for me to replenish my gear before we rescheduled...That was cool because she could've taken her business elsewhere. So my assistant Sandi and I went Tera's house, moved some furniture around in order to capture this great image.

Me and Mrs. Jones...

Hello all,

I keep hearing that song by the Billy Paul (hear below)

Anyway,

The only thing me and Mrs. Jones had going on was a photo shoot in Chicago Heights....I met Mrs. Jones through a young lady I haven't even met in person yet...but that'll happen in due time...

I had the shoot all set up at a co-workers house on his motorcycle...but that fell through...so me and Mrs. Jones scrambled to the lovely town of Chicago heights to shoot...I was looking for a contrast...soft and pretty vs. hard and grimy...and of course Chicago Heights played its role...

Because of the last minute change of plans we were fighting darkness...and that's when Mrs. Jones turned into a comic book character ....

lol...sorry I couldn't help it...I've been wanting to make someone a cartoon character for a while..

Back to the regularly scheduled blogging...

Here are a couple of shots from today's shoot....

so after a few shots...and plenty of horns beeping as the cars passed by...we decided to change into our business attire....

The Chicago Heights police pulled up and said, "Hey, What y'all doin'? We won't tell..."

I thought that was hilarious...

and for the record...Mrs. Jones did keep her clothes on...although all those driving on Lincoln hwy through Chicago Heights thought that she wasn't going to...

and as always....I had a blast!

Tybee Island....

Hello all,

Well,
My vacation is winding down... but I couldn't let it go by without sharing some images with you....

In my pursuit to book more weddings this year....I decided to set up a bridal-model shoot...to show my potential clients how great a bridal portrait session could be...

I found Ms. Juliane here in Savannah, Ga while I was visiting my parents...I purchased a dress for her to wear for our shoot out on Tybee Island...I wanted a wedding dress but I had to settle on a formal dress because a wedding dress was a little to expensive for me to purchase and put in saltwater...lol...

she told me she was surprised that I wasn't stuck up....maybe that's something I need to work on...."being a stuck-up photographer"...

just kidding....

She was laid back...and we had a great day shooting at the beach....The Atlantic Ocean Beaches are nothing like the Gulf Of Mexico Beaches....but we made it work....

Here's a look at your next TV news reporter.....Ms. Aqua (drum roll....)

I had the privilege of helping Aqua put together a resume tape a couple of weekends ago...She called me Saturday and said she wanted to hire me to take her head shots to post on her resume website...

I was unable to schedule her in later this week because I'm having surgery tomorrow but I squeezed her in to a very busy day on Sunday...

I wasn't the only one...her hair stylist opened up the shop just for her....I think that's amazing!!!!

She's one of those people with major drive and determination....she'll go far in the news business as long as she keeps striving to be the best....

Anyway,

I met her at a her home and set up my "portable studio" and we had a blast....Her brother stopped by and thought something crazy was going on inside the house because he kept seeing this flash of light stabbing through the windows...

of course it was my strobes going off....lol

Hello all,

It's been a while but I'm back in action...I've been shooting, but haven't been posting...and I apologize for that...

I wanted to share a couple of images from my latest shoot on Easter Sunday...(a day before my 30th birthday)....Happy Birthday to me...

anyway,

My good friend Steve hooked me up with AJ telling me that she wanted some head shots...so AJ and I discussed a date over the phone and set it up on March 23rd before I knew that day was Easter...

On a side note, she called me when she found out and asked if I wanted to reschedule...I thought that was cool...but I told her no and that I'd see her Sunday Morning....

I did some experimenting with textures and here's an example of the first one...

I think she has a cool name...so I added that to the image...

I have what I call a portable studio...I have a couple of backdrops and I have met my clients at locations of their choice and set up and shot away...(click, click, click)

For AJ's shoot I met her in her apartment and moved some furniture around, set up my backdrop, my new shoot through umbrella and went to work....We had a blast...

Valentine's Day Special....

Hello again,

I posted a couple of ads on craigslist offering a Valentines Day special for portraits and weddings...(contact me for details)...Here's a few pics from my latest shoot....

Javier and Nikki answered my craigslist ad, we scheduled a time and a location, and then we were all set...We shot at navy pier here in Chicago....the place is a little different in the winter, but we made it work...They are engaged to be married this year....

Not to be chessy, but I love the couples I shoot...I really admire young love...not to reject "old love," but you know what I mean....They're at that stage where life is whimsical and joyous...and you can see it by the way they look at each other.....

I just try to let my couples enjoy each other....and try to forget that I'm there....

Happy Friday!!!!!!!

I'm sorry if it's not really your friday...but don't feel bad because it's not my friday either...I was looking forward to catching the train today because of this wonderful weather we're having (5-10 inches of snow), but now I have to drive...and did I tell you how much I LOVE chicago drivers...

Anyway,

I titled today's note film because I wanted to share with you some of the pics I shot on film...I learned a lot from shooting on my film camera....it's nothing exciting just a Pentax PZ-70...I have a couple of lenses...But film gets a little expensive to develop and scan for digital prints....It was fun for a while...but when I got my Canon, OMG....I fell in love....

So I drove around town, or walked, depending on where I was...and just looked for some interesting things to shoot....I took my camera to work one day and just walked around downtown Chicago after my shift was over....and here are a couple of those shots....

The invisible man, as I like to call it is one of my favorites...I just wanted a shot of the steps headed up to the train...but this man ran down the steps to quick and got in my shot....I didn't have the shutter on high so his foot gives a cool effect as he's running through the frame....So when I got this shot developed I wasn't as frustrated...A great shot by accident...you can't ask for anything else (well I can, but I won't today)...

Hey, I decided to share my first backdrop shoot with you guys...

I met Aisha at a concert I shot...I was just looking to get some more shooting experience with the hope that I could make some contacts...Well I did...I handed out many business cards and Aisha gave me a call...she said she wanted some portraits...So we set up a time... she said she was a student and didn't have much money...but I told her we'd work something out...(please don't take that the wrong way)...Anyway, I went to her apartment building and set up my backdrop in the lobby of her building and we began shooting...It's always a bit slow at first...but she warmed up and so did I...and I think we got some great images out of it...

So after much working and learning and dvd burning ( yes that rhymes). I'm finally finished with the dvd slideshow for the most recent wedding I shot...
So I was talking to a very good friend of mine and she recommended that I take pictures of products so of course I decided to share them with you....

Thanks for the compliments on my lovely ironing board...I need to get one of those fancy light boxes that people shoot ebay items on...

My photography mentor recomended this company called jewelboxing. I think they're great...they sent me the items I ordered the next day , but I did pay an arm and half a leg for them so I guess one day shipping was included in the price although they didn't say...
Anyway, I had a lot of fun putting this package together....and there are many more to come...I'm going to start doing this for portraits soon...and yes it may cost just a little more...but I promise....YOU'LL LOVE IT....

I remember my first headshot shoot...let me tell ya, I've come a long way...Last week, I went to one of my new favorite stores here in Chicago called backdrop outlet. I learned about it from another photographer...I have the one you'll see in the image and white one...They're Great...the backdrops works for me because I'm always on location...and even if I don't have a good background to shoot in front of...I can always use my portable studios..

Anyway, here's my favorite pic from my shoot early sunday afternoon...

We were in the business office in her building...I took up a little space to set up...but you can't really tell...I'm looking forward to my shoot on Saturday, and a possible on Sunday...so come back and check'em out...

She contacted me on my model mayhem page and set up a time for jahi (the designer) and I to meet her...Jahi decided that it'd be great for us to shoot at his former gym...I know, I know....you're thinking hot sweaty people and gigantic equipment...and that's what I thought as well...but there were several locations away from the "workout" atmosphere that we were able to shoot...
